Thursday, May 22, 2014

Apart from its unique landscape and absolutely romantic atmosphere, the volcanic island of Santorini is also lined with stunning coasts featuring lunar-landscaped beaches with crystal clear waters and imposing surroundings. From secluded coves for relaxing days on the beach to popular beaches for some extra fun on the beach, Santorini caters for all types of visitors.

So, read below and find out which beach you shouldn't miss when visiting this superb island.

Red Beach
Nestled amidst imposing reddish rocks and paved with fine red sand, this amazing beach close to the settlement of Akrotiri is the perfect destination for a romantic day on the beach, where you can soak up that all important sun, sea and sand away from the bustling resorts of Santorini. Stay until sunset and watch the whole setting turning into a palette of red shades.

White Beach
Right next to the famous Red Beach you will find the small yet brilliant white beach accessible only by boat. Enjoy the bright sun, the turquoise water and of course the sound of absolute peace and quiet for intimate moments by the sea.

Kamari Beach
Kamari is a fairly long stretch of black volcanic sand opening to the vast Aegean Sea. It's one of the most popular beaches on the island, as it's fully equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. Kamari is also just 5km away from Ancient Thira, so visitors can combine their sightseeing tour with a refreshing dip in the deep blue sea.

Perivolos Beach
Crystal clear waters, soft black sand and a plethora of all-day restaurants, beach bars and chill-out venues right on the beach, Perivolos is perfect for visitors seeking to mix relaxation with fun. The beach is accessible by car, however it would be nice to leave your vehicle somewhere further and take a leisure walk along the promenade for some magical sunset views.
